Jersey Shore Council - Boy Scouts of America

If organizing recreational activities for children interests you, consider being a BSA leader!

Scout leaders across America provide leadership skills for children that are enrolled in the Boy Scouts of America. These tireless individuals are faced with the same family and time constraints any other productive person is faced with, yet they somehow find a way to keep it all together and do it for the good of their children and yours.

Scout leaders providing leadership skills for kids in Jersey Shore Scouting serve a variety of functions. Some examples include assembling strong committees made up of talented individuals, planning New Jersey shore events, overseeing venturing crew activities and organizing webelos meeting activities. We also call upon our leaders to instill Scout spirit, conduct Scoutmaster conferences, and most importantly, develop scouts into leaders that eventually become responsible, committed and successful adults.

Entry-level scout leaders are required to take 13-20 hours of Cub Scout leader training the first year. They must also attend roundtable meetings each month to learn what it takes to implement a variety of programs and teen leadership building activitiesthat meets the needs and interests of individual boys. For more information on required online classes, please visit the BSA Online Learning Center.

Scout leaders from all walks of life form the backbone of scouting. They serve as mentors and role models as well as leaders.
