What: A wholesome and fun,
environmental educational weekend for the entire Jersey Shore Scouting family camping
on the beach at Island Beach State Park, Ocean County, New Jersey.
When:
the weekend of September 19-21, 2008, Friday to Sunday
How
are we involved: Scouting has always been a champion of the environment. Partnering with our friends at Parks &
Recreation and Department of Environmental Protection will help thousands of
local youth and families gain a deeper appreciation and insight for the promotion
of public health and environmental protection.
Who:
Cub Scouts and their families, Boy Scouts, Venturers and Explorers
Where: Practicing low-impact,
leave no trace camping in designated areas of the beach for the weekend in the
spectacular natural beauty of Island
Beach State
Park
History: Jersey Shore
Council has a rich and active tradition of partnering with key community
stakeholders. These combined resources
and experiences bring lasting value with measurable outcomes to the communities
of our Council.
Preparation: Scout Units
should plan to attend their local Roundtable. The principles found in the Guide to Safe
Scouting are our practice and will be strongly enforced.
Camping and
Participation: The 2008 Island Beach
Camporee is open to all members of the Jersey Shore Scouting community
including our chartered partners, Cub Scouts and Cub Scout families, Boy
Scouts, Venturers and Explorers. Day
visitors and weekend camping, including family camping will be encouraged.
