WELCOME NEW SCOUTS!
As it has been said before, before we can put scouting’s values into youth, we have to put youth into scouting and the most efficient way to recruit scouts is through the boy talks done in school and the membership nights that follow.  Most units have already had their membership nights and most went great bringing lots of new boys into the joys and adventures of scouting!  As a District, we welcome all new Tigers, Cub Scouts, Webelos and Boy Scouts!  As scouts, we all know what a difference scouting makes in the lives of youth everywhere and we are always glad to have new boys join the scouting program so that their own lives and their community around them can be further enriched. For any units who were not satisfied with the turn out of boys at your night or have yet to have one, please contact Lenape’s District Executive, Catherine Cerbone at 732-349-1037 Ext. 30 or CCerbone@bsamail.org to schedule a new night as soon as possible.  We can all help give a better life to local youth and really make a difference. You can help change lives, please participate.

CUB SCOUT AND BOY SCOUT ROUND TABLES
The 100th Anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America is upon us and its time to celebrate 100 years of adventure!  Now more than ever scouting it is important to keep up with the adventures offered through scouting!  As some of you may know, on the first Wednesday of every month the Cub Scout Round Table takes place, and the following Wednesday is the Boy Scout Round Table.  Whether you have already attended one or two or haven’t attended any, there is no better time than now to come to these fun-filled and informative meetings! Now that the summer season is upon us, there are more and more ways to enjoy scouting and the best way to keep informed of upcoming events and new procedures is to join us at these Round Tables.  On June 10th, we will be having our last Round Table before summer, and what better way to celebrate the coming of summer than a BBQ??  So mark your calendars for Wednesday June 10th, and come on down to the Clayton Service Center on Ridgeway Road and enjoy some burgers and dogs and spend some time with some great people!  We hope to see you there this month!

WEBELOS WOODS FALL CAMPOREE
It’s that time already; sign-ups for Webelos Woods have begun!  On October 2nd through October 4th, come join us at Joseph A Citta Scout Reservation for a weekend filled with archery, BB, fire building, first aid, knots and rope work, orienteering, cooking, camping and hiking! Webelos Woods Camporee is a weekend that introduces the Webelos to the Boy Scout program.  This year our chair has really gone all out and the Pleasant Plains Fire Explorers and EMS Explorers will be attending and the EMS Explorers will be bringing an ambulance!  All units wishing to participate should return a completed registration packet to the Clayton Service Center at 1518 Ridgeway Rd in Toms River, NJ.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our Webelos to Scout Transition Chair, Diane Bond at 732-513-3726, or Dibond@bsamail.org.

ATTENTION ALL CAMPERS!
Time is running out! Lenape’s Day Camp at the Ocean County YMCA is just about full to the maximum capacity and very soon you will be unable to sign up your scout!  With only a few spots left, contact the Clayton Service Center to make your reservation!  If you are interested in camping, helping out, or just plain being part of the fun of day camp, please consider becoming a Den Walker at the day camp.  You get to spend time with the boys and even participate in the activities, and as an extra bonus, if a Den Walker stays for all five days of the camp, he or she will be reimbursed 50% of his or her child’s or children’s registration fee, a value of $50!  To sign up or if you have any questions, please contact Alison Blanchard (Ext. 13), or Catherine Cerbone (Ext. 30), at the Jersey Shore Council, 732-349-1037.
