2008 Island Beach Camporee

Let the planning for environmental adventure begin...at the Island Beach Camporee.

It is our great pleasure to invite you to the 2008 Island Beach Camporee at Island Beach State Park on the ocean in Ocean County.  Whether you are a leader in a Cub Scout Pack, Boy Scout Troop, Venture Crew or Explorer Post we urge you to begin planning now for this experience, to be held the weekend of September 19-21, 2008.

The Island Beach Camporee is organized by the Jersey Shore Council, Boy Scouts of America.  Many of the volunteers on the Key Committee are renowned for their ability as creative planners, inspired Scout leaders and master organizers.  Our Scout leaders have built such incredible events as Atlantic City Air Show, New Jersey State Police Boy Scout Camporee, Area 2 National Scout Jamboree, Council Pinewood Derby and many, many other top shelf Jersey Shore Scouting programs...so no matter your Scouts age group you can be sure you are in store for an incredible experience worthy of your full attention.

Start planning and register no later than the end of May.  So get this event on your calendar, on your Committee agenda and in your action plan.

Over the years, Jersey Shore Council BSA has earned a reputation for being an innovator in partnering with exciting and capable partners with a high level of interaction amongst our Scouting community...and the Island Beach Camporee is no different.  We in Jersey Shore Scouting are passionate about our commitment to maintaining this standard by continuing to collaborate with select partners for the benefit of your Scouts and Scout families.  We are excited to partner with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, the New Jersey Department of Parks and Forestry, the New Jersey State Park Police, Island Beach State Park and the US Sportsman Alliance in this 2008 planning.  Island Beach is chock full of opportunity for you and your Scouts.  We expect other specific supporters adding more meaningful Scouting programs in a weekend than there is time, for sure.

We also expect to extend Scouting's reputation and pride in helping our environment as stewards of the outdoors at the Island Beach Camporee. This coming Island Beach Camporee year, we hold the honor of recognizing Scout units like yours who conduct environmental service projects...including the best of the best.

Once again, we warmly invite you to join us this September 19th to 21st for the 2008 Island Beach Camporee.  We hope you will join us in building on our past traditions of Scout learning and environmental education.
