Boy Scouts of America to Honor Father Ken Tuzeneu with
James J. Mancini Good Scout Award
(TomsRiver, NJ, February 26, 2008) – The Jersey Shore Council, Boy Scouts of America, will honor Father Ken Tuzeneu, with the 2007 James J. Mancini Good Scout award at a luncheon March 27. Father Ken has a long history of service to the community and presently serves the congregation of St. Mary’s of Barnegat.
Father Ken was ordained to the priesthood in 1979 by the late Bishop George Ahr in St. Mary’s Cathedral in Trenton. His first assignment was to Our Lady Star of the Sea in Long Branch where his main duty was hospital chaplain to MonmouthMedicalCenter. In 1986, he was transferred to St. Mary of the Lake in Lakewood, where he remained for the next six years. In 1992, he was installed as pastor of St. Mary’s in Barnegat.
Since Father Ken arrived at St. Mary’s, the parishioners have started ken’s Kitchen, a St. Vincent de Paul Society, and build a Garden of Peace behind the church, along with a beautiful chapel for Perpetual Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. Along with four other parishes, St. Mary’s is involved in the establishment and construction of a regional CatholicSchool, All Saints.
“Father Ken’s generous spirit has certainly had a positive impact in the community,” said Robert C. Warner, Jersey Shore Boy Scouting President. “His energy and enthusiasm are inspirational.”
The James J. Mancini Award is given each year to a community leader who has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to youth service and the community.
